Saturday, May 11. That’s the new date of Bob Seger’s rescheduled show at Rexall Place.

The Detroit rocker postponed Thursday’s concert because of extreme weather conditions and road closures.

“Tickets for the concert originally scheduled for March 21 will be honoured at the new date, Saturday, May 11,” reads a news release from the tour’s promoter, Live Nation.

“Those fans unable to attend the newly rescheduled date may obtain a refund at their original point of purchase.”

Despite Seger’s concern for the safety of fans getting to Thursday’s show, some are angry the postponement was only announced around 5 p.m. — 90 minutes before doors were set to open at Rexall.

“Worried about his fans travelling in this weather is a bit too late, we travelled Highway 63 to get here now we have to do it again for a reschedule,” writes Cindy Davis, of Fort McMurray, on the Journal’s website.

“Drove three-and-a-half hours from Cold Lake ... gas/hotel/food/ticket $550,” writes Kevin McGraw.

“Such a good trip, get to do it again. Maybe his promoter should reimburse people for their hotel rooms with proof of receipt/ticket.”

Seger’s May 11 show will mark his headlining debut in Edmonton. According to a Journal reader, he opened for BTO in the ’70s.
