JOIN GRANDMA AT FABRIC FRENZY
In most families, Grandma knows best when it comes to the business of being a good grandmother.
So pay attention to the Grandmothers of Alberta for a New Generation. They are raising funds to support the African Grandmothers who are caring for over 14 million children orphaned by the HIV/ AIDS pandemic with a Fabulous Fabric Frenzy.
Unused donated fabric, yarn and notions are being sold at bargain prices, with the money going toward grassroots organizations in sub-Saharan Africa that provide health care, nutritious food, adequate housing, education, and transportation to those in need.
Find the fabric you’ve been looking for, or if you have donations, contact Phyllis Molyneux at 780 469-6327, or Judy Hayman at 780 434-0036 to arrange for pick up. When: Saturday, April 13, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Where: Strathearn United Church, 8510 95th Ave. Admission: Free Information: edmgrandmothers.org

Adult attendance is optional. When: Wednesday, April 10, 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Where: John Janzen Nature Centre (next to Fort Edmonton Park) Admission: $25 per child, adult attendance is optional. TIME TO VISIT THE COURTHOUSE
We’d be the first to admit law courts are probably the last place you’d consider bringing the family for a weekend of fun. Still, most are curious about what transpires there, so Edmonton Law Day comes in handy. The intent is to explain the courts in an informal setting, with accompanying pamphlets and booths. Sounds dry, but this may be your only chance to see mock trials put on by practising lawyers and local judges, like the civil trial of Goldilocks and the Three Bears, criminal trials of The Circus Mix-up and The Boy is Mine, plus the trial of the century, Sleeping Beauty v. Spectacular Spinning Wheel Co., et. al. When: Saturday, April 13, 9:45 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Where: Law Courts Building, 1A Sir Winston Churchill Square Admission: Free Information: cba.org
