Girlfriend pops musical proposal

Former Roseanne star Sara Gilbert announced she’s engaged to longtime girlfriend Linda Perry.

Best known for her role as daughter Darlene on the sitcom, and currently co-host of The Talk daytime talk show, Gilbert, 38, gushed that the proposal from her musician companion came during a family picnic last week.

She said: “We go to a park, we have food and we’re eating it, it’s really sweet and there’s this guy sitting playing guitar, like a street musician.

“He starts playing this song that we love ... I’m, like, ‘Oh, that’s so weird, this is so magical and amazing.’ Suddenly the people picnicking next to us pull out string instruments from under the blanket and walk over and they start playing Love Song (by the Cure).”

Perry works as a songwriter and producer for stars. After the music, she produced two T-shirts. Both read: Will. You. Marry. Me? Then Perry pulled out a ring.
