U.S. artists want funding restored
Cellist, rocker perform for arts advocates
WASHINGTON — Former Guns N’ Roses drummer Matt Sorum is joining cellist Yo-Yo Ma on Capitol Hill to urge lawmakers to fund the arts.
The rocker and classical musician performed briefly together Tuesday for arts advocates who plan to visit congressional offices. The group Americans for the Arts is pushing for funding to be restored to $155 million for both the National Endowment for the Arts and the National Endowment for the Humanities. Last year both agencies received about $146 million and they lost about $7 million of that in automatic budget cuts from Congress.
