WestJet offers a rewarding experience

-

Simplicity and flexibility are the hallmarks of WestJet Rewards, says Marshall Wilmot, WestJet vice-president of products and rewards.

“The program is unique because it is a spendbase program in which the currency is WestJet dollars,” he says. “Our guests said they wanted us to keep it simple, so we made it very easy.”

The company decided to call it a rewards program and not a loyalty program, he adds, “because we are focusing on rewarding our guests.”

WestJet dollars can be used like cash towards the purchase of WestJet flights and vacations, with no blackout periods. “You can save for a trip or just start with $25,” says Wilmot. “The big change is through the RBC World Elite MasterCard.”

On signing up, a new cardholder gets a complimentary ticket and $250 WestJet dollars, plus a companion ticket for $99 and more companion tickets on renewal. In addition, WestJet recently added the ability to earn WestJet dollars on car rentals and hotels booked on www.westjet.com.

“This is just the beginning,” Wilmot says. “Throughout the evolution of our rewards program, we have listened to our guests. This is a critical element in moving forward in ways for our guests to be rewarded.”
