Cable rms post modest growth
GATINEAU, QUE. — Cable companies reported modest growth in revenues and subscribers over the past year, while satellite companies saw a decline in both categories, the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission said Tuesday.
The CRTC says the number of Canadian households subscribing to basic television service offered by cable companies increased by two per cent to reach 8.7 million for the year ended last Aug. 31. At the same time, Canadian households subscribing to a satellite company’s basic television service decreased by 1.8 per cent to 2.8 million.
