did not expect to still be in business 50 years later” after building his first house. He also probably did not expect to have his sons and grandchildren in the office with him every day, proudly working for the family business. Ace came over on the boat from Russia when he was five years old. He grew up in Camrose and received his journeyman carpentry ticket. In 1957 he moved to Edmonton with his family and in 1958 he built his own home. In 1963, Ace felt confident in new home building construction and established his own business. Throughout the 1960s, Ace and his late wife Evelyn ran the family business out of the basement of their home while they raised their family. In 1977 they again required more space and purchased their office complex at 10335 – 61 Ave., where the company still operates. Gord and his brother Cal joined their father at Ace Lange Homes in 1975. Gord serves as the controller and manages the business accounts and the construction of each home. Cal is the sales manager, working with customers to design their dream homes and works with developers to find neighbourhoods in which to build these beautiful homes. A third generation has now entered the family business, with Kevin, Kristy, Erin and Jill now fully involved in the operations. Gord and Cal value the relationships they have with their employees, contractors and sub-trades. Ace Lange Homes employs 20 people, some of whom have been with the company for many years. Receptionist Barb Robinson has been with the company since 1976. Gord says, “These working partnerships are a huge part of the Ace Lange Homes formula to success.” Maintaining these relationships is of high importance to the company. Ace Lange Homes has always served the upper end of the custom home building market. Currently they are building single family custom homes as well as executive attached duplex bungalows in
