We’ll miss Bee-bell shop

- S. M. Wilson, Edmonton

Re: “Say goodbye to Bee-Bell bakery,” by Liane Faulder, Food Notes, June 12. We have shopped at Bee-Bell Health Bakery since we came to Edmonton 17 years ago. Every Saturday morning we go there to get our sweets, breads and buns.

I disagree with the coowner Gary Huising that only old people shop there. His comment offends me. We see patrons of all ages.

Saturday mornings at the bakery used to be so busy you could barely get in the door. Over the past few years we’ve noticed a huge decline in customers and I think the changes they made to the product lines played a big part. Great lemon pies and tarts are no longer available.

The previous owners used to interact with the clients and knew a lot of them by name. Recent staff was not like that.

We will miss the Bee-Bell bakery. I guess we are now the older people.
