Former journalist to run for Ward 6 seat
A former journalist has entered the race for the Ward 6 council seat in this fall’s municipal election.
Scott McKeen worked as a reporter and columnist with the Journal for 24 years, but left the paper in 2010 to run for a council spot in Ward 7. He did not win the seat and has since worked in the communications field.
McKeen said Saturday he would run his campaign on a theme of core values, both attached to the core downtown communities of Ward 6 and city hall’s core services.
Kyle Brown and Bryan Kapitza are already candidates in the ward, which will have no incumbent when Coun. Jane Batty steps down.
Edmontonians go to the polls on Oct. 21, 2013.
