‘Happy’ Bieber takes the criticism in stride
Forget the flag flap and don’t believe the hype about the house parties, Justin Bieber is coming along just fine, says Justin Bieber.
In his first interview in months, the 19-year-old talked to The Hollywood Reporter about growing up in the music business.
“I know who I am and what I’m doing in my life and what I’ve accomplished and continue to accomplish as a performer, as a writer, as an artist, as a person, as a human being,” Bieber said. “I’m happy with the man I’m becoming.”
Bieber, 19, recently made headlines for kicking an Argentine flag during a concert in Buenos Aires. (He has since apologized).
And his wild house party drew international media attention, as well as the attention of Los Angeles police.
As for those who criticize his lifestyle, Bieber told The Hollywood Reporter: “I don’t give a f---.”
“When people see a negative thing about me on a magazine, they’re gonna buy it,” he said. “Every time some site writes something bad, all my followers go on there, and it brings them more traffic. Now they have all the Beliebers on their site, which gives them money from advertisers. They’re just worried about money. They don’t care about ruining someone’s name.”
In the interview, Bieber credits his inner circle with helping him keep it real. His supporters include manager Scooter Braun, pastor Judah Smith, who texts Bieber scriptures, as well as Oprah Winfrey, Adam Levine and Drake.
