So much for progressives

-

Ted Morton’s sadness sounds a little bit like former Parti Québécois leader Jacques Parizeau’s parting shots the night of Quebec’s last sovereignty referendum. It was The Others who did us in, the impure Tories — the Progressive ones instead of those of pure-blood, true Conservatives. If only there had been more of Us.

The question remains as to where moderates and social democrats will park their votes in 2016. Unless the Liberals and the New Democrats can bury their decades of tribalism and build a strategic centre-left front, there is little possibility of a progressive government emerging.
