Glaciers now ancient lost-and-found sites
GENEVA — Mountaineers and hikers are being urged to keep an eye out in melting ice patches for items lost hundreds or even thousands of years ago.
A project run by a Swiss cultural institute in Graubuenden encourages people to turn over things like wood or clothing they might run across in eastern Switzerland, where the Swiss National Park is located. Finds have included goatskin leggings and a corpse in South Tirol, each about 5,000 years old.
