Naked man wanders into pizza restaurant

‘Looked lost,’ had been shot

-

A naked man who had been shot in the leg walked into a Boston Pizza in central Edmonton early Tuesday.

Restaurant manager Gerald Ward said an employee told him the man “looked lost.”

“It’s not every day someone walks into a restaurant with no clothes on,” Ward said.

The 26-year-old victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries. The shooting is believed to have occurred in or near a car.

A police spokesman could not confirm media reports that the man was shot while having sex in a car.

“We don’t know why he was naked or what he was doing, but one obviously wonders why a person is naked at midnight in or around a car,” said Staff Sgt. Malcolm Allan.

Police received a number of calls about gunshots heard in the area of 95th Street and 112th Avenue shortly after midnight, he said.

Officers found a two-door car with bullet holes in the driver’s side door and a window shot out. Shell casings were found near the vehicle.

While at that scene, Allan said police began receiving calls about a running man “with no pants on or completely naked.”

Minutes later, Boston Pizza staff at 11440 106th St. called police when the injured man entered the restaurant.

The man is known to police. He has not been co-operating with the investigation, police said.
