GAMES THIS WEEK

-

EDMONTON (3-0) at WINNIPEG (3-0) Thursday, 6:30 p.m., TSN

Keys to the game: This is the CFL’s unexpected battle of undefeated teams. The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have already won as many games as they did all of last season. The Edmonton Eskimos can tie last year’s output of four wins with a victory on Thursday. The key: Which team is most adept at handling unaccustomed prosperity?

Players to watch: Eskimos slotback Adarius Bowman is coming off a threetouchdown game. Winnipeg quarterback Drew Willy, a first-year starter with the poise of a seasoned veteran, excels with the game on the line.

TORONTO (1-2) at OTTAWA (0-2) Friday, 5 p.m., TSN

Keys to the game: The expansion Ottawa Redblacks, who are looking to establish a foothold in their market, must entertain the fans in their home debut at TD Place. The Toronto Argonauts have to improve defensively, having already allowed 34 and 41 points in their two losses.

Players to watch: Speedy tailback Chevon Walker has three of the Redblacks’ first four touchdowns. With the Argos’ defence struggling, future Hall of Fame quarterback Ricky Ray will have to pile up points for Toronto, despite an injury-depleted receiving corps.

HAMILTON (0-2) at CALGARY (2-0) Friday, 8 p.m., TSN

Keys to the game: The Hamilton Tiger-Cats will need effective quarterbacking in the absence of Zach Collaros, who is sidelined with head and back injuries. Jeremiah Masoli, an Ole Miss grad like Hamilton head coach Kent Austin, must excel from his backup role — especially if the Ticats are to keep pace with the potent Calgary Stampeders.

Players to watch: Stampeders quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell threw four TD passes in Saturday’s 34-15 victory over the Argos. The Tiger-Cats’ struggling passing attack would receive a boost if slotback Andy Fantuz is able to return after missing the first two games with a concussion.

MONTREAL (1-2) at B.C. (1-2)

Saturday, 5 p.m., TSN

Keys to the game: The B.C. Lions, who have had pass-protection issues, have to find a way to repel a formidable Montreal Alouettes rush. B.C. did shore up some of its pass blocking Saturday when it doubled the host Saskatchewan Roughriders, 26-13.

Players to watch: Alouettes quarterback Troy Smith threw his first three touchdown passes of the season Friday in a 34-33 loss to Winnipeg. The Lions’ Andrew Harris rushed for 138 yards (including a 58-yard TD) on Saturday, when he added 65 yards on five receptions.
