The 11th Canada Cup runs with three draws daily at 8:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at the Encana Arena in Camrose.

The event features seven of the top men’s and women’s teams in Canada playing a round-robin competitio­n, followed by the semifinals on Saturday and finals on Sunday. The teams were determined by the Order of Merit ranking at the end of the 2013-14 season.

The men’s rinks are Olympic gold medallist Brad Jacobs of Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.; two-time Canadian men’s champion Kevin Koe of Calgary; 2010 Olympic gold medallist John Morris (as Kevin Martin’s third) of Calgary; four-time Brier and world champ Glenn Howard of Penetangui­shene, Ont.; 2006 Olympic gold medallist Brad Gushue of St. John’s, N.L.; the red-hot Mike McEwen of Winnipeg; and Jim Cotter of Vernon, B.C. In the women’s field are Olympic gold medallist Jennifer Jones of Winnipeg; two-time Canadian champion Rachel Homan of Ottawa; Saskatoon’s Sherry Anderson (skipping Stefanie Lawton’s team while the skip takes care of her newborn son); 2013 Olympic trials runner-up Sherry Middaugh of Coldwater, Ont.; 2012 Scotties Tournament of Hearts champion Heather Nedohin of Sherwood Park; 2014 Scotties runner-up Val Sweeting of Edmonton; and 2014 Ontario champ Alli Flaxey.

The teams are playing for a combined purse of $140,000 and berths in the 2015 World Financial Group Continenta­l Cup from Jan. 8-11 in Calgary and the Road to the Roar Olympic pre-trials competitio­n in 2017.
