Hockey skates and quick-change artist are two terms that don’t seem to go together, but Bauer has changed all that. is year, Bauer is selling the Bauer Supreme MX III skate which offers a quick change blade system that’s handy for the player who loses an edge or has a broken blade.

Tory Mazzola, Bauer Hockey’s global communications manager, said a blade can be “changed in a matter of seconds” with this system. at means a player could change the blade while sitting on the bench and be ready for the next shift.

Carrying an extra set of blades also allows a player to have the skates sharpened where he prefers. Many Canadians have owned Bauer skates at one time or another — the company has 65 to 70 per cent of the hockey skate market. Whether it’s equipment for playing the game or items for the fan, hockey presents plenty of Christmas gi -giving possibilities.

In addition to the new blade design, Bauer has also introduced an advanced gear and undergarment design and jeans designed for the hockey player. Bauer makes “a full line of hockey equipment from head to toe,” Mazzola said. “We’re No. 1 in every category.”

e 37.5 technology used in the Bauer base layer, protective equipment and team and training apparel uses body heat to evaporate moisture, keeping players drier during a game. e technology helps regulate a player’s temperature and the humidity level close to his skin. e system means a player can spend more of his energy on the game. In contrast, other materials that wick away moisture leave it in the garment so it’s still close to the athlete’s skin. Mazzola said the Bauer jeans are designed to t the thicker thighs and more robust rear end that are typical of hockey players.
