Tory Mazzola, Bauer Hockey’s global communications manager, said a blade can be “changed in a matter of seconds” with this system. at means a player could change the blade while sitting on the bench and be ready for the next shift.
Carrying an extra set of blades also allows a player to have the skates sharpened where he prefers. Many Canadians have owned Bauer skates at one time or another — the company has 65 to 70 per cent of the hockey skate market. e 37.5 technology used in the Bauer base layer, protective equipment and team and training apparel uses body heat to evaporate moisture, keeping players drier during a game. e technology helps regulate a player’s temperature and the humidity level close to his skin. e system means a player can spend more of his energy on the game. In contrast, other materials that wick away moisture leave it in the garment so it’s still close to the athlete’s skin. Mazzola said the Bauer jeans are designed to t the thicker thighs and more robust rear end that are typical of hockey players.
