WETASKIWIN- CAMROSE
Bruce Hinkley, NDP Age: 66 Occupation: Retired school principal
Reason for running: “I have extensive experience as a business owner and school principal. I am running because after 44 years of the PCs, I want to restore integrity and trust to political representatives for an honest and open government. I want to improve seniors care so seniors in our community can live with dignity. With Rachel Notley and the NDP we can stop the Prentice PCs, and make life better by focusing on what matters to you and your family.”
Top priorities: Invest in hospital repairs and front line care, cut emergency wait times, provide more long-term care beds and put available hospital space to use to serve patients. Provide stable and adequate funding for K-12 education, roll back mandatory school fees and create a school lunch program. Create tax credits for businesses that create jobs and reward those that process our resources here. Stop PC delays in construction of needed schools, hospitals, transit, roads and bridges.

Verlyn Olson, PC Age: 61 Occupation: Lawyer Reason for running: “Having grown up and lived in this constituency for most of my life, and having been the MLA since 2008, I have had the privilege of getting to know people in all parts of our constituency and have developed a deeper understanding of what the issues are. I believe we live in the best place in the world, and want to do my part to keep it that way.”
Top priorities: Respond to residents in Wetaskiwin-Camrose by working with a team to bring concerns to the appropriate ministry. Advocate for constituents and organizations in the constituency that support community life here. Our constituency has a strong combination of cities, towns, villages and agricultural areas. We have to think collaboratively as a region rather than individual communities competing with each other.

Bill Rock, Wildrose Age: 50 Occupation: Plumber, teacher, elected official Reason for running: “Albertans need a strong voice to let the PC party know that it can’t continue to misgovern. I have seen the difficulties our frontline health care professionals deal with each day, having watched my son Ryan’s kidney and pancreas transplant. This reinforced in me that health care professionals and patients, seniors and our youth need someone to tell the PC government that the time for responsible, efficient government is now. As a family man, a small-business owner, the deputy mayor of Amisk, and a dedicated Albertan I felt that it was time for me to take action and run for MLA.”
Top priorities: Stand up for patient-centred health care and seniors care that minimizes bureaucracy. Stand up for world-class education focused on classroom sizes that allow our teachers to teach. Stand up for seniors by pushing for democracy and accountability in Alberta.
