Officer faces assault charges

An Edmonton Police Service constable has been charged with three counts of assault after an off-duty incident at a bar last year. Const. Eric Vezina was charged Tuesday in connection to a Nov. 13, 2014, incident at a nightclub, according to a police news release.

Vezina, who has been an EPS officer for one year, has been suspended from duty without pay.

Vezina’s case was investigated by the EPS Professional Standards Branch before the results were reviewed by Alberta Justice.

The EPS released no further details on the charges.

Vezina does not yet have a scheduled court date.
