Parking no big deal
I am fed up with people complaining about the cost of parking at hospitals. It seems everybody wants a free ride just because they own a car.
Over the past nine months, I’ve made numerous trips to hospitals in Edmonton for various diagnostic procedures. Not once was I charged a single penny out of my pocket for procedures that likely cost the health system thousands of dollars. For that I am extremely grateful.
The one thing I did pay for was parking — big deal. Coming up with $10 or $20 for parking to access health care was, and is, the least of my concerns. Given the level of care I received, those parking fees were a bargain.
The sense of entitlement is ridiculous. Perhaps people should just pay the full cost for their health procedures. Maybe then we can offer up this free hospital parking people so desperately feel they deserve.
