Rachel Bowron and Andrew MacDonald-Smith, the reallife couple who star in Avenue Q, hang out a lot with Kate Monster, the chanteuse Lucy T. Slut, the indecisive quester Princeton and Rod, the Republican banker who can’t quite pry himself out of the closet.

It’s Bowron’s first show with puppets. MacDonald-Smith is an old hand, so to speak. Not only did he appear in Avenue Q at Vancouver’s Arts Clubs, in a much-extended four-month run, he’s a good friend (creator, actually) of Maurice Tipo, a hoodie-wearing charmer who won a contest and went (with MacDonald-Smith, natch) to New York City to appear for a night in the Broadway production of Avenue Q.

We wondered if Kate Monster and Princeton remembered Maurice from that night in New York.

“I do remember that guy,” says Princeton.

“Yeah, he’s kinda like a legend now,” says Kate Monster.

“A local celebrity here,” says Princeton. “We met him just the once. He was super-nice. and very, VERY talented.

“Very handsome,” says Kate. “I wonder what happened to that guy. A real catch.”
