-

A 57-year old man was killed late Tuesday when he lost control of his all-terrain vehicle southeast of Fort McMurray.

Wood Buffalo RCMP and emergency services responded to the crash about 9:50 p.m. in the Saprae Creek area east of Fort McMurray.

The driver was going to help another ATV rider whose vehicle was stuck at the bottom of a hill when he lost control and flew over the handlebars. The ATV landed on top of him, causing a severe head injury. He was not wearing a helmet. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police are not revealing the man’s name until his family is notified.
