Tax hike claim doesn’t wash

-

Re: “Corporate tax hike helped B.C., critics say,” March 28 and “Best interests of Albertans, or big oil?” Ideas, Kevin Taft, April 29

Readers should be reminded of a Journal story which ran just prior to the Alberta election campaign: Although Christy Clark’s government in B.C. raised the corporate tax rate there by one per cent, her province realized a net gain of 12,000 jobs.

Imperial Oil is aptly named as it appears to be trying to influence the policies of two major Alberta political parties (and by extension the electorate) by decree. Mr. Taft is well within the bounds of fair play informing us that Mr. Mintz is merely a shill for big oil.
