Students to vote in mock election

-

More than 75,000 students will cast ballots Monday in a mock provincial election.

A total of 874 elementary and secondary schools are registered to participate from all 87 ridings in Alberta, according to a Student Vote news release.

Students will vote for the official candidates running in their ridings. Students will also act as deputy returning officers, poll clerks and scrutineers.

The results of the vote will be released after the polls close on election night.

In 2012, 85,000 school kids participated in the Student Vote election. Results were close to the official election results, where students elected a Progressive Conservative majority and a Wildrose opposition, the news release said.
