Open concept in Allard

Allard show home features open concept, natural light

- Dylan Thompson

1 GOOD REASON TO LOOK

First and foremost, the Kingston is a family home. It’s not hard to see why Crystal Creek Homes imported this popular design from Calgary into the Allard community.

The Kingston’s layout demonstrates careful consideration given to ease of movement, the needs of entertaining a group, and simply finding the space to put your feet up in a dynamic household. The main floor family room has an open concept, and is great for lounging alone with a good book or chatting over snacks and board games with the family.

The second-floor bonus room is cosier and better suited for late-night Netflix binging, within stumbling distance of the home’s three bedrooms.

0 REASONS TO TURN AROUND

The main floor is designed to flow. Enter from the garage through the mud room, leading you to a walk-through pantry before opening into the kitchen and living space, which can also be reached through the front foyer. There’s no need to worry about traffic jams, or getting stuck in a corner talking to your uncle during Christmas dinners.

The walk-through pantry also includes its own counter space, complete with an additional sink. Are the kitchen sinks full after a big dinner? Not to worry. This home comes with a spare.

2 SPACES IN WHICH TO EAT — ONE FOR EACH OF EDMONTON’S TWO SEASONS

Windows surrounding the dining area bring in plenty of light for those big meals around the dining room table. The attached deck is great for barbecues in the summer or just soaking up the sun.

BIG SPACE, READY FOR EXPANSION

The home’s unfinished basement leaves room for future development that can be customized to fit your needs. Even left unfinished, the area would be ideal as storage, a workout area, or an easy getaway space for a basement-loving teenager.

2

CONVENIENTLY PLACED APPLIANCES

The washer and dryer units are kept on the second floor near the bedrooms. Why drag your soiled laundry all the way to the first floor or — heaven forbid — the basement? This design choice is perfect for an active family with plenty of clothes to keep clean.

SPACIOUS SHOWER

One of the highlights of the master bathroom is the double-headed standing (and sitting) shower. It features one detachable shower head for hosing off those tough-to-reach spots and a separate one, featuring a rain shower style, across from the first. A bench is built into the wall for mid-shower breaks or helping accommodate reduced mobility needs.

100+

CLOTHING OPTIONS

The master bedroom’s walk-in closet deserves special mention, if only because it is virtually large enough to serve as an additional bedroom.

1 FIGHT AVOIDED

Aside from the master bedroom, the other two bedrooms are of equal size. This design choice neatly avoids any friction between siblings over who gets the bigger space.

1 LASTING IMPRESSION

The development of Allard is in one of Edmonton’s most rapidly expanding communities. Located on Edmonton’s southern edge, close to Anthony Henday Drive and Highway 2, homeowners can experience the joy of seeing the neighbourhood form over time, as residential and commercial development continues.
