Ground movement alarms miner Teck

-

TORONTO — Teck Resources Ltd., Canada’s largest diversified miner, said there was “unexpected ground movement” at a plant near its Quebrada Blanca copper mine in Chile.

As a precaution, cathode production has been suspended and a preliminary investigation is expected to take at least a week, Vancouver-based Teck said Thursday.

Mining operations haven’t been affected, the company said.
