When Calls the Heart

Based on a book series by Janette Oke, this drama series tells the story of a young teacher, Elizabeth Thatcher (Erin Krakow), who accepts a position in a small coal town on the prairie. In the première, as Elizabeth assumes her duties, the townspeople are dealing with the aftermath of a deadly mine accident and the revelation that a plank with a personal message has been found in the rubble. A second new episode follows immediately. Daniel Lissing and Lori Loughlin also star. (CBC)
