Tractor trailer rollover closes Highway 770

A driver was taken to hospital after a tractor trailer rolled into a ditch southwest of Edmonton on Saturday afternoon.

Stony Plain and Thorsby-Breton RCMP were called to the scene on Highway 770 between Range Road 24 and 30 near the Genesee Bridge around 12:30 p.m.

The tractor trailer, which was carrying an unidentified liquid, rolled into the ditch near the bridge.

The driver was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, RCMP Cpl. Marcia McDermott said.

Hazmat teams and the Parkland Fire Department were at the scene cleaning up. The highway remained closed until after midnight.

The Genesee Bridge is about 71 kilometres southwest of Edmonton.
