FORT SASKATCHEWAN Residents of a quiet Fort Saskatchewan neighbourhood say they are in shock after two people were found dead inside a home on their quiet culde-sac Friday morning.

The names, age or gender of the two people found inside the home at 21 Alderson Close have not yet been released by police. Neigh- bours say a mother and her five children live in the home. RCMP say it’s not yet known if members of that family are the deceased.

“This home is normally occupied,” RCMP Insp. Gibson Glavin said. “We don’t know if these bodies belong to this home. That’s a key element that our investigators are working on right now.”

Glavin said RCMP were called to the home at about 6:20 a.m. Friday after reports of gunshots in the area.

Speaking to reporters outside the scene, Glavin said double homicide and murder-suicide were both potential scenarios under investigation. He said no one had been arrested Friday afternoon, but that people who “could possibly be related in some way” were being questioned by police.

“What we’re trying to do right now is eliminate anyone who could possibly be involved. If we account for them, eliminate them, and see where that takes us,” he said.

He said RCMP are “reaching out to the people we know may have some information to help us.”

Residents of Alderson Close ven- tured outside throughout the day, staring sombrely past tidy lawns and parked RVs to the lines of yellow crime scene tape flapping in the sunny fall afternoon.

“It’s kind of crazy for something to happen in this neighbourhood,” said William Maschke, who lives on the street.

Maschke said he was awakened in his home by a loud sound, like a shot, that he had never heard before.

In the afternoon, a burgundy Jeep was towed away from the home with what appeared to be a bullet hole through a rear window.

Police officers worked at the house throughout the day, before taking down roadblocks and yellow crime-scene tape.

An upstairs light fixture remained on inside the home, a beige two-storey with its garage and doors painted cheery mauve. Potted plants dotted the property, and several pieces of clothing were draped over the railing at the back door, drying in the warmth of the sun. Apart from the RCMP car parked outside and an area of the driveway that appeared still wet from being hosed down, there was no sign of what had gone on inside.
