Problems at the Royal Alexandra Hospital, according to an AHS report from December.

Old and obsolete active treatment centre

Operational and capacity pressures in several areas, including gynecological surgery, medicine, cardiac care, trauma, cancer surgery, renal treatment, emergency, the ICU and psychiatry.

Shortage of observation beds.

The morgue cannot accommodate obese patients.

Significant infection control concerns in older buildings.

Elevators frequently don’t work. Insufficient parking. Upgrades needed for the laboratory.

The ICU does not meet design standards.

The in-vitro fertilization clinic must move because diesel fumes and vibrations from the nearby transit centre are affecting the embryos.
