MOVIE: DIRTY DANCING

ABC has ordered a new threehour musical adaptation of this romantic drama with Abigail Breslin in the role created by Jennifer Grey, but any new version has its work cut out for it up against the classic 1987 original, which boasts Sixties hits, stirring original songs and eye-popping dance moves. Audiences loved the story about a naive teen (Grey) who has the time of her life with a hunky dance instructor (Patrick Swayze) at a Catskills resort. Cynthia Rhodes, Jack Weston and a pre-Law & Order Jerry Orbach also star. (W)
