Arrive at Allard is unlike anything you’ve seen before.

Conceived for the RV crowd, or those with plenty of big toys – ATVs, boats, snowmobiles, etc. – the homes in Arrive at Allard are equipped to house everything you own inside their mammoth garages.

The community was designed for people who like to explore the world in an RV.

“When Bedrock Homes saw there was such a shortage of places where you can park your RV on your driveway or in a garage, they thought, ‘Hey, this is an interesting concept. Let’s look at it further,’” explained Susan Johnson, Area Manager with Bedrock Homes.

In most neighbourhoods, bylaws dictate you cannot park your RV on the street. Many people don’t have driveways long enough to prevent them from blocking the sidewalk, so that too is a non-starter.

Those hindrances led to a novel solution – move the RV, and any other large recreational toys, indoors. The concept is a dream come true, build a home that allows people to park all of their toys with easy pack-and-go access.

There are 19 homes planned for Arrive at Allard, and all of them come equipped with a double car attached garage and third bay large enough to fit an RV or whatever you want inside.

All the homes are bungalows, 18 are duplexes and one is a standalone unit. The duplexes are set up so the garages share a common wall, the homes themselves bookends to the garages. This arrangement reduces construction costs and gives residents more privacy.

The living space ranges from 1,176 to 1,292 sq.ft. with two bedrooms, both garages can be accessed without having to go outside.

At the moment, land development is underway in the community, with sewers and electrical corridors being installed, Johnson said. Once that is completed, work can begin on pouring the basements, which is expected to be completed by the end of the summer, with framing slated for the winter months.

Having the basements poured will herald the start of construction as sales start coming in.

May 28 will be the big kick-off for Arrive at Allard, which is when the sales trailer opens for business, and pre-sales begin.

Johnson said she expects people will be starting to move into the neighbourhood in the spring and summer of 2017.

Prices for homes in Arrive at Allard start in the $575,000s, and range up to $800,000 or beyond, depending on what finishes buyers choose for their homes.

Even with the economy being uneven, she said she envisions the 19 homes will attract a lot of attention and will sell very well, as there was much interest in the idea well before any work started.

“From our focus group, people were very excited,” Johnson said. “They wanted to know when they could see them – we were still in the concept stage at that time.”

One component of that focus group that was really excited about the homes was the car enthusiast crowd, which saw the ability to store their collections inside and not have to rent space somewhere else.

“A lot of people search for a long time to find a home that fits their needs and desire, but that can also house their toys,” Johnson said.

The RV garages at Arrive at Allard are high enough that a home owner could install a lift system, allowing them to stack cars, if they so desired. The garages are wired to accommodate the electrical load, and constructed to withstand the forces a lift would exert.
