Jason Priestley (Call Me Fitz) stars as a former pro hockey great turned private investigator, Matt Shade, in this engaging new Canadian series that’s a welcome throwback to a fondly remembered TV genre. Matt sees this new career path, which teams him with tough boss Angie Everett (Cindy Sampson, Supernatural), as a way to redemption from a checkered personal past. In the series premiere, Matt and Angie investigate the case of a pro hockey player who suffers a heart attack on the ice. (Global)

Presumed brainiacs must answer a whole lot of questions to increase their winnings and stay in the game, as this quiz show from producers including Mark Burnett (Survivor) returns for Season 2 over five nights. New this time is the host: Dan Harris, the Nightline and weekend Good Morning America co-anchor. The first contestant he puts to the test is Ken Jennings, winner of the most games in the history of Jeopardy! (ABC)
RED NOSE DAY
Long popular in England, this fundraising event — devised by Love Actually writer-director Richard Curtis — reached into America for the first time last year, and many celebrities are participating again in the U.S. version. Including comedic and musical segments, the program is aimed at increasing awareness of those in need, an effort that raised more than $23 million in 2015. Among those slated to appear are Liam Neeson, Kristen Bell, Paul Rudd and Julianne Moore. (NBC)
