MOVIE: BATTLE OF THE BULGE

This overly ambitious 1965 war drama tried to condense a 1944 Second World War battle that lasted nearly a month and sprawled across three European countries into a three-hour movie filmed almost entirely in Spain. It did not do it very well, despite a solid cast that included Henry Fonda, Robert Shaw, Robert Ryan and Dana Andrews. Former U.S. president Dwight D. Eisenhower came out of retirement to denounce the film for its historical inaccuracies, but hey, it’s not boring. (Turner Classic Movies)
