COMPANY TOASTS SCOTCH TOURISM

-

It’s the ultimate mash-up: a Scottish entrepreneur has created a one-stop shop to promote a personal link between whisky tourism and the country’s distilleries.

The new service, Whisky Co., is aimed at everyone from the novice drinker to the connoisseur and will create tailored itineraries covering everything from tastings to transfers, with a focus on personalized luxury service.

“Whisky is a huge Scottish success story, but there’s a missing link between the distilleries and the whisky lovers coming to visit,” PR manager Kirsty MacGeoch said of the Edinburgh-based venture, which stands for Whisky Connections. “I wanted to share my knowledge of Scotch and Scotland with the world to ensure visitors get the best out of what our country and its wonderful whisky have to offer.”

With more than 100 active distilleries and 40 more in the pipeline, whisky tourism is big business in Scotland and attracts upwards of 1.5 million visitors annually.
