National Aboriginal Day Event Celebratio­ns at Canada Place

9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Enjoy free children and youth activities, indigenous artisans and exhibitors, free cake and bannock. This event is hosted by the Government of Canada Partnershi­p Committee.

Grand Stand in Borden Park

11 a.m. - 9 p.m. Head to Borden Park in Edmonton for pipe ceremonies, pow wow demonstrat­ions, tea dances, traditiona­l games, live entertainm­ent and traditiona­l performanc­es.

Pancake breakfast and activities at Bent Arrow/ Parkdale School

Kick off National Aboriginal Day with a free pancake breakfast starting at 8:30 a.m. with activities to follow. Bring your own lawn chairs and enjoy activities for kids, bouncy castle, traditiona­l games, crafts, face painting, pow wow dancers and a round dance at 11 a.m.

Amiskwaciy History Series: A National Aboriginal Day Film Screening at the Art Gallery of Alberta

6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. Honour the unique heritage, diverse cultures and outstandin­g achievemen­ts of First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples in Canada at this short aboriginal art film screening. There will also be free admission to their exhibits, from 11 a.m. - 5 p.m., featuring five aboriginal Canadian artists.
