Man found slain in city park was shot, autopsy reveals
Police are investigating the death of a man found in a northwest Edmonton park over the weekend as a homicide.
An autopsy by the medical examiner found Benedicto George, 25, died as a result of a shooting.
Officers were called Sunday to Lorelei Park at 103 Street and 162 Avenue. Neighbours in the area said they heard at least three gunshots around 5:30 a.m.
Court documents show George was charged with breaching recognizance, possession for the purpose of trafficking and obstructing a peace officer in 2016.
