Bring on the Rain

The big-screen return of the 1952 classic Singin’ in the Rain is being billed by Cineplex as a mom movie, though it’s not particularly maternal in its subject matter, as a production company tries to make the shift from silent pictures to talkies in the late 1920s.

But it also stars Debbie Reynolds, the mother of Carrie Fisher, both of whom died last year within days of each other. In any case, it screens on May 14 (Mother’s Day) and again on May 17 at select Cineplex cinemas.
