TRAIL CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS FOR 2018
Wolf Willow: Erosion repair for trails coming down from the neighbourhood, on the access road and the north bank of the North Saskatchewan River. Patricia Heights: Planning and construction to realign and upgrade the gravel trail at 159 Street. Whitemud Creek: Major rehabilitation on the lower reaches of the creek, including bank and trail repairs near 51 Avenue, north of Snow Valley Ski Club and at pedestrian bridge 283. Rebuilding the boardwalk near Butchart Drive to repair ice damage and eliminate the need for stairs.
Blackmud Creek: Work to stabilize the bank near Blackburn Drive and the Blackmud Creek bridge.
Laurier Park: Viewing decks are scheduled to be constructed in 2018, along with minor trail reconnections. MacKinnon Ravine: Design work and construction to address flooding across the path.
Queen Elizabeth Park: Rehabilitation of the Laurence Decore lookout and final work on the Indigenous art park. Nellie McClung Park: Further monitoring, including with geotechnical instruments, to determine if the current landslide conditions make reconstruction feasible.
Mill Creek Ravine: Realignment for three trails affected by erosion and further construction to address a landslide damaging the Vogel Hill access roadway.
Capilano Park: A new retaining wall and slope reconstruction is needed to reopen the trail west of Capilano Crescent and 65A Street.
Goldbar Park: The trail north of 101 Avenue will be rerouted upslope to avoid erosion near the creek.
