Some Edmonton Transit Service pass and ticket users will see the price for their ride jump in February.

While regular cash fares will remain unchanged, riders can expect to pay more for monthly passes, day passes and ticket packs.

The approximately three per cent price increase was approved in the last three-year budget cycle passed by city council.

Day passes, adult or Disabled Adult Transit Service (DATS) ticket 10-packs, youth and senior ticket 10-packs and cash fare for Route 747 will all see increases, with the largest bump coming to Route 747 as cash rates double to $10 from $5.

The cost of a day pass will rise by 50 cents to $9.75 and ETS ticket 10-packs will increase by $1.50.

Adult and DATS monthly passes will increase by $2.25 to $97, senior monthly passes will rise by 50 cents to $15.50, post-secondary monthly passes will now cost $2.50 more at $88.50 while Route 747 monthly passes won’t change. Senior annual pass rates will increase beginning with the April 2018 to March 2019 cycle, increasing by $4 to $136.50. Passes for low-income seniors will cost $1.75 more at $59.25 starting on April 1.

The cost of a youth monthly pass will increase by $2 to $75 starting in September.

There will be no change for cash fares, Ride Transit subsidized passes, Route 747 monthly transit passes or to the price of a U-Pass.

Despite the increase in fares, Edmonton’s monthly pass price of $97 comes in under Calgary’s at $103 and Ottawa at $116.50.
