Northlands boss leaves for similar job in Regina
The president and CEO of Northlands resigned Friday.
Tim Reid joined the nonprofit community group on Sept. 15, 2014.
The Regina Exhibition Association Ltd., which operates Evraz Place, announced on Twitter that Reid will become its president and CEO. Its property is home to convention and sports facilities, including the new Mosaic Stadium. His first day will be March 5.
“Northlands needed a leader we knew could navigate the uncertainty. In just over three years, Tim took Northlands through a historic transformation that has carved out a new path for our future,” Northlands board chairman Geoff Oberg said in a news release Friday, thanking Reid for his work.
Reid’s departure comes as Northlands faces major changes to its mission. Edmonton city council voted last September to take over Northlands Coliseum and permanently closed it at the end of 2017. It will take over Northlands Park racetrack, stables, grandstands and casino at the end of next summer’s racing season. The city also now runs the Expo Centre under the Edmonton Economic Development Corporation’s umbrella.
Northlands will continue to run the popular K-Days summer event for the next few years.
Kevin Gunderman, Northlands’ vice-president of corporate services, will serve as interim president and CEO. He joined the Northlands team last January.
