Toronto mayor wants to co-host World Cup
The mayor of Canada’s most populous city says he wants Toronto to be among the North American cities to co-host the 2026 FIFA World Cup if the joint U.S.-Canada-Mexico bid wins. Toronto is among four potential Canadian host cities, along with Vancouver, Edmonton and Montreal. “It is clear that Toronto and Torontonians are ready to be one of the host cities for this iconic event,” Tory said. The report estimates the cost of co-hosting three to five games would range from $30 million to $45 million.
