A CHANCE TO DANCE
City teens shine on NBC show
Local dance sensations Josh Beauchamp, 17, and Taylor Hatala, 14, have made it through to the next round of competition on NBC’s World of Dance series.
The two hip-hop dancers, performing as a duo on Tuesday night’s show, impressed judges Jennifer Lopez (who is also the executive producer of the series), as well as singer/songwriter/producer Ne-Yo and Derek Hough (a former performer on Dancing with the Stars).
The Edmonton pair has danced together for four years and both appeared on Season 1 of the series last year.
One dancer, duo or group is on track to win a $1 million grand prize in the World of Dance competition.
The show can be seen on Tuesday nights at 8 p.m. on CTV. Fans can get an early peek weekly by tuning in to the program’s social media site every Monday.
Two years ago, Hatala, and her sister Reese won a competition to dance alongside pop artist Justin Beiber during his Purpose World Tour stop in Edmonton.
Taylor has also toured with Janet Jackson’s Unbreakable World Tour in 2015/16.
She’s also been on the Ellen DeGeneres show.
Beauchamp, who dances with an L.A.-based troupe called immaBeast, is a Gr. 11 student at Bellerose Composite High.
Taylor Hatala, 12, a hiphop dancer who has appeared on stage with Justin Beiber and Janet Jackson, is part of the Edmonton duo impressing the all-star judges of the NBC dance competition World of Dance.
