2 more held in slaying of Paul Band woman

- DUSTIN COOK

Two more people have been charged with second-degree murder in relation to the killing of a 31-year-old woman from the Paul Band First Nation.

Genie Elizabeth Bull, 25, and Lyle Kashten Buck, 23, were arrested by police Thursday after a six-hour standoff at a northeast Edmonton house, the RCMP said Saturday.

Police initially responded to reports of a shooting in the Balwin neighbourhood, where a 40-yearold man was found with a serious gunshot wound. The man has since been released from hospital.

Bull and Buck, both from Edmonton, were previously identified by the RCMP as being suspects in the death of Ellie Mae House on the Paul Band First Nation. They were apprehended by police after the tactical team and canine unit were called in to get the occupants out of the Balwin home.

A third person was also arrested at the scene. Edmonton police said charges are pending against the three suspects.

A bail hearing has been held for Bull and Buck in the homicide case, the RCMP said. They are being held in custody and are set to appear Wednesday in Stony Plain provincial court.

Two other suspects, Nora Flora Papin, 31, and Neil Benjamin Morin, 33, have already been charged with second-degree murder in connection with House’s death.

Stony Plain RCMP were called just after 7:30 a.m. Aug. 14 to Paul Band First Nation, where House was found shot to death.

No other suspects are being sought in the homicide, RCMP said, but the investigation continues.

Paul Band First Nation is about 70 kilometres west of Edmonton.
