Ar­rests made in Ki­nuso gun theft

RCMP be­lieve they’ve re­cov­ered some of the dozens of guns stolen from a hard­ware store in Ki­nuso.

Po­lice said four sus­pects, two men and two women, pulled up to the Ki­nuso Mer­can­tile in a truck around 5 a.m. on Tues­day and smashed through the glass doors.

Once they gained en­try, the sus­pects stole about 40 firearms in­clud­ing shot­guns and ri­fles.

The sus­pects, all wear­ing gloves and masks, were in and out of the store in about five min­utes. Faust RCMP said they also made off with elec­tron­ics and cloth­ing.

On Fri­day, RCMP made two ar­rests af­ter a brief stand­off.

On Tues­day, RCMP of­fi­cers went to a house in Bar­rhead and found a stolen truck be­lieved to be in­volved in the break-in. They found six long guns and am­mu­ni­tion in the truck.

RCMP spoke to a male at the front door who con­firmed two sus­pects were present at the house, who re­fused to surrender. Af­ter the po­lice dog unit and a spe­cial­ized response team turned up, the sus­pects de­cided to turn them­selves in.
