Let the public ski at private golf clubs

-

Re. “Royal Mayfair the city’s best-kept ski secret,” Elise Stolte, Dec. 7

What a shame that both the Royal Mayfair and the Highlands Golf Course choose to be quiet about the availability of their lands for public use. Are they forgetting that as a leaseholder they do not own the property?

City staff, who represent us, did not know or were choosing to be quiet about it. They even go as far as not allowing skiers to use their washroom facilities if you’re not a member. Will the city and Mayor Don Iveson make the changes for the public?

Will these course general managers do the right thing and advertise they are open for skiing in the winter?

Will the city post signs at the entrance to both courses informing skiers in Edmonton that these beautiful parks in our river valley are open for cross-country skiing during the winter months and perhaps installing port-apotties alongside the trails?
