Calcium-chloride repair bills loom

-

Re. “Anti-icing claims fail to reassure,” Letters, Jan. 8

I agree with everything Stephen Chambers said about calcium chloride affecting our vehicles and concrete driveways and garage floors.

I just wonder what the city’s excuse will be when council comes to the money trough (taxpayers) looking for money to repair or replace city infrastructure and city vehicles such as fire trucks, ambulances, police vehicles and myriad other vehicles.

Perhaps city council thinks that everything associated with the city is immune to the effects of calcium chloride.

Interestingly, the city has said that it is not spraying bridge decks as there is a concern about the effects of calcium chloride on the steel.
