CONNERS AWAITS GOOD LOOK AT COURSE

- JMccarthy@postmedia.com

Canadian Corey Conners arrived on Sunday morning at Bethpage Black hoping to get an early look at the course which he had only seen on TV and played in video games. Problem was the course was more or less under water. Monday was more of the same for the winner of the Valero Texas Open, his first PGA Tour win.

After playing 11 holes of his practice round Tuesday, he packed it in when heavy rain came. What he has seen of the difficult course in suburban Long Island, he likes.

“It’s all pretty new to me,” he said. “It’s going to be a little bit softer and colder and playing long, but it’s in awesome shape and it’s going to be challenging.”
