Victoria Day is just around the corner. For many, the long weekend marks the “unofficial start” to summer and many families are heading out for their first camping trip of the year, or at the very least, dusting off their barbecues for the season ahead. Still deciding what to eat? Here are some tasty and easy recipes to add to your camping or grilling rotation.

Our flank steak is a flavour bomb, thanks to a sweet, savoury, spicy and smoky honey-mustard-soy sauce that doubles as a marinade. We suggest serving the steak in warmed tortillas to minimize mess, but it’s just as delicious with a salad or grilled vegetables and potatoes or rice.

Our one-bowl, Mediterranean-inspired chickpea salad is a cinch to make. Instead of a dressing or vinaigrette, this recipe uses the marinade from marinated artichoke hearts to flavour the dish.

Unlike many salads, this one actually gets better with time, as it allows the flavours of the vegetables to marry — perfect for packing in a cooler.

You don’t need a campfire for our baked beans (though it definitely doesn’t hurt). This hearty campfire classic gets its smokiness from bacon, canned chipotles and barbecue sauce.
