Famoso Italian Pizzeria + Bar

Once Again, Edmonton Votes Famoso as Best Pizza

-

Famoso Italian Pizzeria and Bar is passionate about staying true to authentic Italian pizza, with imported bell ovens, ingredients from Italy and traditional culinary techniques in pizza making that have gone unchanged for over 200 years.

Because of this authentic, unforgettable culinary experience, Famoso has once again been awarded winner of Gold in the pizza category for this year’s Readers’ Choice Awards.

Since the first trip to the birthplace of pizza, Naples, Italy, in 2005, Famoso has recreated and made available that incredible pizza experience, right here in Edmonton. Famoso opened its first location in Edmonton in 2007, expanding to 30 locations across Canada, including 10 in the Edmonton area, with more new locations planned to open over the next year.

Though Neapolitan pizza is the main draw for this neighbourhood pizzeria, the good news is, now there are even more dining options available to patrons yearning for an authentic Italian flavour that can’t be found at other local pizza restaurants. In fact, Famoso has just launched a new and expanded menu, including the introduction of New York Sicilian Style Thick Crust Pizza and Forno Roasted Wings. This is in addition to Famoso’s traditional Italian pasta dishes, sandwiches and tapas.

The thick crust pizzas – inspired by the styles found in both Sicily and New York – provide a bigger and thicker crust compared to the Neapolitan-inspired fare, though it is still made with the same high-quality, ’00 imported flour. Among the eight options available for the thick crust pizzas are the Italian Job (featuring authentic Italian capicola, soppressata, and sausage meats), the Famoso California (rich in marinated prawns and other fresh seasonings).

Famoso’s Forno Roasted Wings are baked directly in their bell-shaped fire ovens and are available in four mouth-watering flavours – Traditional Hot Buffalo, Sweet Bourbon

BBQ, Montreal-style Salt & Pepper and Italian Style (Pesto & Parmesan).

The Italian tradition of communal dining also gets a nod at Famoso, with many plates perfect for sharing.

For Italians, food isn’t just nourishment, it’s life! That’s why every dish at Famoso, new and old, is created by the in house culinary team and inspired by family kept recipes.

At Famoso, it is all about providing a true Italian experience in a fun lively atmosphere, right here at home.
