Old Strathcona Antique Mall

Antique mall keeps up with the times

-

“This ain’t your Grandma’s antique store!” is a motto co-owners Betty Reitan and Bobbi Weibel live by. This mother and daughter duo jointly run the Old Strathcona Antique Mall, GOLD Winner in the Best Antique Store category, as well as GOLD Winner in the Comics & Collectibles category.

“A huge ‘Thank You’ to the people of Edmonton who voted for us; we are humbled and grateful for your continued support of our local business,” says Reitan.

Since purchasing the business in 2009, the two, along with their 100+ vendors, have focused on following design trends and changing with the times. While you can still find many true “antiques” (100+ years old) at The Old Strathcona Antique Mall, you will also find many Mid-century Modern (MCM) pieces, lots of “kitsch” and a ton of “Vintage” pieces.

Weekends are especially popular at Old Strathcona Antique Mall, although they are open 7 days a week. Lots of folks make this part of their weekend routine, browsing for treasures, meeting up with friends or introducing one of Edmonton’s “Hot Spots” to out-of-town guests.

This year brought national exposure to Old Strathcona Antique Mall with Amazing Race Canada (ARC) Season 7 stopping by with their teams of racers. “This was an especially exciting time for us,” says Weibel who was the featured “Clue Giver” on the much-acclaimed TV Show. The exposure has brought in folks from across the country who want to check out this very popular shop featured on ARC.

Listed as #5 on Trip Advisor’s Shopping List for Edmonton, the Old Strathcona Antique Mall is certainly a place you don’t want to miss! Follow them on Facebook and Instagram for up-to-date information and events.
